Why the majority of Canadians support the mission in Iraq

A majority of Canadians across the country support the military mission in Iraq. This may seem surprising. Shouldn’t war-weary Canadians, and supposedly pacifistic Quebeckers, oppose this intervention? Is support for the operations in Iraq merely a reflection of ISIS’s particularly barbaric practices?

Actually, no. The public’s support for the mission isn’t surprising or unique to the campaign against ISIS. Canadians’ endorsement of the effort is in keeping with notable trends and the fact that the operation meets certain key conditions.
