L’intérêt stratégique renouvelé du Canada pour le Nord de son territoire est fondé sur le potentiel économique lié aux ressources des espaces sous-marins (hydrocarbures, minéraux) et l’hypothèse de l’ouverture du passage du Nord -Ouest. Si il existe une dimension militaire que cela sous-tend – la politique arctique canadienne doit également être analysée au regard de la politique intérieure et de l’orientation politique du gouvernement.
Canada’s strategic thinking towards its Arctic territory is based on the economic potential in terms of resources that exist (oil, minerals) and the assumption of the opening of the Northwest Passage. The militarization and the capabilities development that underlies usually retain the attention of its allies when it comes to Canadian Arctic policy, but the later should also be analyzed in terms of domestic politics.
